Manchester United looks to add another star

As the head coach of the Manchester United team; Sir Alex Ferguson recently dismissed talks of him quitting for position, the team has been in discussions with Luis Fabiano about coming over to join the team. Fabiano’s contract will run out at the end of the season, and he remains just 29 years old. Born and raised in Brazil, Fabiano is a striker that wears # 10. He made his soccer debut for Brazil in June of 2003, against Nigeria. He has been playing with Sevilla since 2005, making 119 appearances and scoring 56 goals. He also was part of team Brazil back in 2003 when he scored 25 goals. Fabiano is best known for his two goals scored in the Confederation Cup Final win against the United States. For that performance, along with others he received the golden shoe as the tournament’s top goal scorer; with 5.

The Sevilla Futbol club has been around since October of 1905. They finished 5th place in the 2005-2006 season in La Liga. The team is owned by its fans, with stocks distributed across a few of the major holders. The team is known for its white, with red-striped sleeves and black socks for home games and white striped sleeves for away games.

Manchester United is coming off a loss at Manchester City on April 17th. They currently are in second place, behind Chelsea with 76 points. They will host Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday April 24th at Old Trafford. After that, the club only has two matches remaining; at Sunderland on May 2nd and with Stoke City on May 9th.

Ferguson, who is 59 years old helped the team win the League Cup in 2009, along with the Premier League. He started his coaching career in 1974 with East Sterling. He went on to coach the Paisley Club to a championship during the 1976-1977 season, before being let go for disagreements with ownership. He has been at the helm of Manchester United since 1986.

The remaining portion of the season will be quite interesting. It will be quite the drama if Ferguson does elect to give up his post with one of the greatest soccer franchises in the world. Also, if they can pick up Fabiano, they will once again be a force to reckon with during the 2010-2011 season. Stay tuned, as the action is just getting started!
